Choose the structure before the surface finish
Box dimensions, construction and use should lead the specification. PAQVARO supplies custom printed boxes and cartons through our supplier network, with practical support from the first brief to artwork approval and production.
Product cartons, mailers and corrugated boxes
Begin with the pack’s job: retail presentation, dispatch, transit protection or a combination. Folding cartons and corrugated mailers are different constructions. Tell us about the contents, product value, handling and route to market so the format can be assessed against the intended use.
Dimensions and product fit
State whether measurements are internal or external and label the length, width and depth on a drawing. Share product dimensions, weight and any clearance, insert or assembly requirements. Confirm fit with the actual product rather than treating a drawing as a tested pack.
Board choice and structural requirements
Board type, caliper or flute, where applicable, are confirmed for the proposed construction. Explain stacking, transport and handling requirements, plus any retailer brief. We do not assign a performance rating without evidence for the selected structure.
Printing and finishing
Identify the print surfaces, colour and finish requirements, and whether the pack is supplied flat or assembled. Decorative finishes and inserts affect the specification and cost. We confirm available options and their implications before artwork is approved.
Artwork, cutter guides and structural samples
Prepare artwork to the agreed cutter guide, with important content clear of folds, joins and openings. Agree the structural or printed sample needed to check fit, assembly and appearance, together with its limitations and cost. Approve the structure and artwork as separate decisions.
Ranges, reorders and shelf-ready supply
List quantities for each box size and design, and describe the reorder pattern. For outer cartons that convert to a shelf display, add pack counts, opening and replenishment requirements.

A useful specification resource
A clear box dimension brief
Illustrative internal dimensions. No example size, board strength or tolerance is specified. Always state the measurement convention and check the proposed pack with the actual product.
| Decision | Information to confirm | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Internal dimensions | Usable length × width × depth | Allow for the actual product, inserts and required clearance. |
| External dimensions | Finished outside footprint and height | Check dispatch, shelf and retailer constraints. |
| Structure | Format, closure, assembly and loaded weight | Agree the construction and required sample or testing. |
| Production | Quantity per size/design; board and print | Approve the structural specification and artwork version. |
Your questions, answered
Should I send internal or external dimensions?
Either can be a starting point, but state which you are providing. Confirm internal product clearance and the final external footprint before approving the structure.
Which box format suits retail and shipping?
Describe both tasks and the distribution conditions. A retail carton may need separate transit protection; the proposed structure must be assessed against the actual use.
Can we check a structural sample?
We agree an appropriate sample stage, its scope, availability and cost before proceeding. A structural sample and a printed proof answer different questions.
Can you quote a small production run?
Send quantities by size and design. Viable quantities depend on construction, printing and finishing; any applicable minimum is confirmed in the quote.
